There's nothing like starting young! At Thruxton Kart Centre, any budding racing driver from 8 years old can go karting on our brand new 365m Club circuit and experience motor racing for themselves.

Our 4bhp, 120cc Cadetkart, for 8-12 year olds, enables juniors to experience what real karting is like but with all the safety features you'd expect for children. These karts are fitted with adjustable seats, full wrap-around bodywork, double-adjustable pedals and variable electronic rev limiters.

Alternatively, for the slightly older karter, our 5.5bhp, 160cc Stratoskarts are available for 12-15 year olds. A very versatile kart, the Stratos is forgiving enough for junior drivers but still fast enough for experienced karters.

Format

  • Sign-On
  • Suit and helmet fitting
  • Briefing, showing racing line, braking points, etc.
  • Track walk/talk
  • Kart demonstration
  • Pupil follows instructor on circuit
  • Instructor then follows pupil
  • Back to the pits for advice and critique
  • Out on to circuit again (if required)
  • Timed Laps
  • De-brief

Thinking of taking up kart racing? Fancy improving your karting skills? Our karting tuition may be just the thing for you. One of our instructors will teach you about racing technique, including what lines to take on the circuit, when to brake etc.

Sessions run over a one hour period. In this time, you'll be given a full briefing (which goes into a lot more technical detail than our standard briefing), have a walk-round of the track, the karts and the pit lane area. On to the track - you start off following the instructor, then the instructor will follow you watching your progress and finding ways in which you can improve your technique. Once all this is done, you'll be sent out to complete some timed laps, with a full debriefing to conclude the session. Lap record sheets will be available.
